Kagoshima-Chuo🚅Kyushu Shinkansen 🚆Shin Yamaguschi🚄 Shin Iwakuni🚌

You have now arrived at Iwakuni known for its beautiful bridge over the Nishiki river. It was a castle town own by a clan called Kikkawa. The main lords castle can still be seen on the hill and there are also walls for the moat remaining near the Shrine. As the river flooded the causeway and also washed away the wooden bridges, the lord of the area decided in 1673 to build  one more sturdy construction. The result is the magnificent Kintai-kyo Bridge.

Thousands of tourists are attracted to the area because of the bridge and the beautiful surroundings. The  bridge  has  been  swept  away  once  more  in  1950  by  a  typhoon.  The  community  missed  the  bridge  so  it  was  reconstructed  to  the  original  plans  and  its  wooden  arches  regularly  maintained.Join the queue for one of 20 soft serve ice cream. Make sure you have lots of photos of the cherry blossoms. Now its late, one bus back to the station and  another 2 trains to Okayama. Dinner, bed because tomorrow is a busy day. You’re  on holiday …………..but you might not come back and there is so much to see.
