You are having a treat today! A lovely train ride over the Forth river and then a ferry ride. So are you ready, here we go!
Berwick-upon-Tweed
Queen Victoria came to open the viaduct with much pomp and ceremony. The garden was designed and planted to honour her. Guess how long her train stopped…..12 minutes and 8 of these were to perform the opening. We enjoyed it didn’t we? She should have stayed longer.
Over the Forth . Look at that train track curving over the water.
Aberdeen is where we are catching the ferry. Now you just got time to whizz up the road to check out the old city. It is all grey stone and of course has a maritime history but there is no time time to visit the museum🤪.
Walking through a church graveyard is always interesting but this was extra interesting because we looked for stones with symbols. Unfortunately we didn’t find any but most residents had lived long lives for the times with lots in their 70’s and 80’s.
We did take the ferry. Tomorrow morning, bright and early you will be in Lerwick in the Shetland Islands. Sleep well.
