You are used to rush ,rush, rush on our adventures but this one is slower. I know you are shocked but life on Norfolk Island is more country town pace than city. As I mentioned yesterday, there are 1700 people permanently on the island and this swells with planes of tourists coming from Brisbane and Sydney airports twice weekly. People generally come on a package deal for a week. Permanently on the island are four doctors, a dentist, pathologist, physiotherapist and nursing staff. Staff comes from Australia. It’s better than the medical provisions on the mainland isn’t it and it’s all free. Sorry, I don’t think you’re extended family will allow you to desert them and move here. 300 children are schooled by 20 teachers from NSW. So idyllic a lifestyle, except for Australian regulations and the Australian Government expecting them to pay taxes and rates. How could they!

Queen Elizabeth Point
Historical Kingston. This was the original settlement.
S Barnabas Church of England.

Today we joined the orientation bus tour and experienced the beauty of the island. Afterwards naughty me made the girls play word games during their afternoon rest time. This had nothing to do with the planned retail therapy having to be postponed as, being Saturday, most shops closed at noon. How uncivilised!!

Nightfall saw us joining the Wonderland Night experience. There is something special in strolling through the bush at night, up a track, enjoying Bush poetry illustrated by dioramas.Did you find it amusing. I did.

PS. The wifi suddenly goes down here so your adventure will be added to as it is available,😀
