We are going to have quite an adventure today. Leaving Galle we will head south towards the Yala National Park. Travelling along the coast , there are small villages where the fishermen sell their catch alongside the road. You can just go and choose.
They seem to use fishing boats or outriggers.
This area was hit by the tsunami in 2004. Once the area was cleared , many of the original residents returned. Some fishermen use the traditional method. This involves sitting on a stilt driven into the sand. You can try it. No? One of the group is… well done Jess!
Leaving the coast , its paddy fields of rice, palm trees and other crops. Hope we get there soon. I’ve got a numb bum, how about you. Finally we are here. Stow the luggage, we are going on safari!
Yala National Park covers a wide area but is a sanctuary for leopards, elephants, birds, water buffalo, boars and other wildlife. Lucky us gets to go this afternoon and at 5.00am tomorrow so hopefully we will see some wildlife. You know my luck .
Visit 1
Well we were pretty excited after visit one. The first peacock we saw was super exciting but by the 30th one , we had decided they were secret service spreading the word “humans , hide”
Ready , it’s 5.00am. Trucks are ready to speed to the gate when the park opens at 6.00am.
Visit 2. There aren’t as many peacocks about.!
The elephants were sooooo cute. They were all saggy baggy like a soft toy
Time for us to go. How do you feel…it was so exciting seeing the animals in their habitat. The chase in the trucks when an animal was spotted was amazing too….I didn’t know a road could have so many bumps.
Back to the hotel and time to move on for more adventures
