We are leaving the Hebrides . The sky is crying (again). The scenery from Oban to Glasgow is mountains, green fields ,deserted castles and lochs.

Pesky post keeps getting in my photos and its not even photogenic.

On route we stopped off at a church. This church started as a plane, small Norman church ( little decoration, one space). A wealthy architect wanted his mum and sister to have a beautiful church close to them and did some renovations. His inspiration was all the architectural styles and his materials anything he could get. This includes parts of ships, windows from other churches and local stone. Surprisingly, the result is a lovely feeling church.

Robert the Bruce

A boat font.

Next stop Loch Lomond.

Unfortunately,or fortunately, there was no time for a swim. No monsters  were evident ( related to Nessie), Just people in Kayaks, ducks and gulls. There is a song penned about the Loch concerning two men who were caught during the Jacobite uprising. They were given a choice, one could be executed and the other could return to the Loch to deter others ,or both could be executed. They decided one should return, and one should take the high road to heaven.

Moving on to Inveray. A pretty village on another Loch. Quick retail therapy, drink loo stop.

How can a scone scone be single use?

This is the last of the Puffer boats. They were small cargo ships that went between villages.

Sorry I didn’t buy you any sweets. The shop lady was unsure what her lollies tasted like.

Glasgow, we are here! Angus, our driver grew up here so gave us a running commentary and whistle stop tour.

People’s Palace
Necropolist.

We are on the Hop on , Hop off bus tomorrow so will check some of these off the list. Dinner was at a restaurant that has been in Glasgow since 1797. It’s speciality is macaroni cheese, (no I didn’t have it). Young couples would come here after they had bought their engagement ring to celebrate. Last night there was a 60th. it is still popular with the locals and we were the only ”travellers”. Are ye dancing?

 Are ye asking?
