Apart from making us wet, I don’t think those blessings yesterday helped us. Today we are travelling along the highway to Mt Fuji and it is looking somewhat cloudy. It is difficult to really see the scenery from the highway as there are barriers along the sides. Perhaps this is to keep you from getting distracted. There are towns trying to get out by spreading up the hills.
We did pass the longest roller coaster in Japan. The guide said it is not for the faint hearted.
After 2.5 hours we started to climb up to the viewing area for the mountain. I am hoping the special bell we have been given , lifts the cloud. I don’t think it is working .
Naturally there are shops and a shrine.
This man climbed Mt Fuji when he was 105 so we know it is up there in the clouds but the Mt Fuji cake was definitely good.
I did see this Mt Fuji and it was yummy, wasn’t it; crisp on the outside, soft inner and not too sweet.
From the mountain, we drove to Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the five lakes in the region. On a fine day ,there is a perfect view complete with reflections of the mountain.
One more stop before the hotel. You had a nap in the bus so fresh air and a walk is what you need before dinner and bed. Matsumoto castle is impressive.
Were you impressed with our skills at dinner? We found a restaurant with pictures, identified what we thought would be good and it was fabulous. English speakers are not common out of the major cities.
Rice on a hot plate with tuna on top and egg poured around it, gyoza, and a spring onion and cabbage soup decorated with pork and sea weed. Yum! It seemed to be the favourite of the local too.
Wasabi farming tomorrow so off to bed.
