Today you will be having a big rest as it’s a long drive to Greymouth from Wanaka. Us first class passengers are planning on making stop suggestions but fear they will be ignored because of time restraints. The scenery is guaranteed to be spectacular as we pass besides enormous lakes, farm lands and then the forested mountains.
Now which walk do you think we chose ?
Around the creek and falls were thousands of rounded river pebbles. What do you do with smooth , rounded pebbles…..skim or stack them of course.
Across rocky gorges…..
To the Franz Josef Glacier
The hut in front of the glacier was originally used for climbers and mountaineers climbing the glacier. When the glacier receded, it was moved and then when no longer used it was dismantled and moved down to the National Park. We did have some questions but that ranger was rather silent.
Coffee is vital when you are on the go. A wise pair of women have set up a coffee van at Bruce Bay. Coffee, crepes, ice cream…..all definitely required. I can recommend the Blackberry ice cream.
No time for walks now..Hokitika for a quick leg stretch.Hokitika is known for all the driftwood that is found on the beach and it’s historical buildings from the gold times.
It’s late afternoon so let’s head for Greymouth. It was once a bustling coal port . Ships became larger and soon the port didn’t have a deep enough water.
More adventures tomorrow.
Glad you are enjoying them Vivian. I hope you and Steve are keeping well.
