Whoooo. The wifi system has been down and the lady selling us the wifi forgot to tell us how to disconnect so we lost the time we had purchased. Nevermind, here I am again and I will fill you in on your activities. Today you are off to the local markets and then, I know you will find this difficult, high tea. The markets are quite small …..a few people selling their extra produce and some of the local craft shops selling earrings, tshirts, chocolate and artworks. You were so lucky because the ukulele festival was this weekend. 15 visitors and local ukulele players entertained us. This is the 6th year the festival has occurred and the music was fun.
High Tea with a stunning backdrop, what more could you want? Our hosts set up the high tea after their father was invited by the queen for his 80th birthday. He was born the same day as the queen. All he wanted for his birthday ,in addition to his visit to London , was high tea at Claridges. He suggested it would be a lovely business to set up on Norfolk. After 10 courses of delicious food, we have to agree. Then came the liquor tasting……yummo.
Today we are getting some exercise to wear off that food. A walk in the Botanical Gardens and National forest. We spotted a green parrot……attempted to identify the plants. You would think they would be easy to spot unlike a moving bird but I am sure they had moved from their signs. This amazing garden has beautiful walks throughout. Even more amazing is that it was started by a retired nurse who settled on the island and created a garden that kept growing. The plants were grown from cuttings and seedlings donated by locals for her garden. It is now looked after by the National Parks.
Coffee is a necessity…….and we went to town and the shops are open. Yes retail therapy time……poor husband trailing after 3 women. At least since there are 3 of us , he escaped giving his opinion.
History tomorrow so be prepared.
