Off again!

Now you know I always say ,”Come join us”, well two game friends have actually,physically (and wisely or unwisely ) decided  to risk coming on an adventure with us. Where are we, you ask? We are in Norfolk Island.

Technically we are still in Australia as the Australian Government administers the Island. It was independently governed but part of Australia when it found itself financially unable to support its 1700 residents. The local elected government agreed to accept financial support, agreeing to be bound by Australian labour and social security laws and this has caused anxiety in the Island as it fears Australia will not respect the unique culture of Norfolk Island with its links to Pitcairn Island and the Mutiny on the Bounty sailors and their Tahitian wives.They do not feel that they have a say in their Islands governing.

Overlooking Kingston, the original penal settlement, our accomodation is single bedroom apartments. Compact ,but we are lulled by the sound of the ocean and the views are so beautiful we will have trouble leaving it to show you the rest of the Island. We arrived early afternoon so have only had a quick drive around the shore near us ,coffee break and a quick reconnoiter of the shops………there are three women so be warned….there will be retail therapy.( At least 3 shoe shops sighted so far ,quite a few clothing stores , some great coffee shops…..you get the picture).
