After 6 weeks of travelling, you must be on information overload. Well we are driving from the Island of Eysturoy to Bordoy, then Vidoy and finally Kunoy. Sounds exhausting doesn’t it but the islands are close together. You travel across bridges or through tunnels.Elves are suppose to inhabit the tunnels. I am just scared that a car will come the other way. Each tunnel is single lane with just passing bays cut into the rock. You have to peek out to check if there is a car coming. It’s almost as scary as driving on the scenic drives where the road drops away on the steep mountains The passing points are not big. It is very scenic. There are unusual statues, beautiful mountains and waterfalls. No elves, no coffee shops, very few people……have they gone to Tórshavn for the St Olav festival?
You definitely need to be a hiker here to really enjoy the thrill of conquering the mountains and to reach some of the ‘tourist sights’. Unfortunately for you my friends, I fail you miserably here. An energiser bunny I may be , a hiker with the gear ,not.
Tomorrow is our last day here in the Faroes. The lady at the Information centre suggested we go for a walk in the forest. Trees are few and far apart here so a forest is a big attraction. No you don’t get any retail therapy as it’s Sunday, shops are shut….. even coffee shops (also rare), no crying now. You will have time in Manchester.
