You did well packing and the bags were nearly the first off the plane. Our transfer arrived…just a little late but you still had plenty of time to join Rodney Rodent (Guinea Pig) at admiring the Jewel fountain in the airport. Do you remember Rodney. He escaped Peru and is now travelling the world with us in memory of all the Guinea Pigs that didn’t survive mealtime.

Jewel waterfall, Changi Airport

Quick trip to the hotel with evening views of the city.

Marina Bay
Those dots are wild otters in the water reservoir.

Now I know you have been to the Botanical Gardens many times , but you haven’t been to the Orchid Gardens in ages. Once these were exhibited in just one building but now they cover 4 hectares. Just a bit bigger than you remember. I think we should explore them, don’t you?

One of the many Garden entrances.
I am overseeing the garden grounds!

One of the new garden areas, under development, is the Evolution Garden. This illustrates the types of plants that developed to create the earth and its atmosphere . Walking along the path , plants just change.Pretty amazing concept really ,don’t you think.

Moss and Lichen
Mosses and cycads.
Ferns appearing
Ferns
Trees with crazy trunks
Looks like a reptile skin

Then we moved to pines and trees we know today.

Petrified wood

Curators of the Gardens had accomodation within the gardens. This house was built in 1910 for the Assistant director. His claim to fame was training monkeys to collect seeds from high trees. One problem he found with this was that his assistants bit him. The dangers faced by plant collectors you never consider.😄

Corner House

Do you want to join a line dance group?

Great moves!
They look like they are having fun….but the lady on the end is somewhat serious.

Past the pond and the lake.

Beautiful water lilies
Giant lily pads
Swan Lake

We are finally at the Orchid house!

There are so many different types of orchids and look how beautifully they are displayed.

Vases?

Throughout the different orchid garden areas, there is statues to remind you of orchid environments and fertilisation.

Watch out for the praying mantis Mr.Bee
Water and streams provide moisture and humidity to the growing orchids.
Rodney likes to exploring. The cat is a not a conversationalist.
Piggybacking!

It is nearly time for the afternoon rain shower. Let’s have a rest back at the hotel before dinner.

Feeling better. We can catch the train to Newton and go to the food centre. The hawker centre was set up in 1971. It is still popular with locals and tourists. There is 100 different food stalls. Now what will I choose….🤔

I’m glad we are early.

Yes you can go and rest now. You have walked over 11km. See you at breakfast and we will find out what time we go to the cruise centre.

I couldn’t resist 😊
