A train journey through this section of countryside, has been described as one of the most scenic. You will have to decide for yourself.

That looks like food
We are going to Kandy…4 hours by train
Sorry not today , I had early breakfast
Hope the board is wrong as we are supposed to leave at 9.09am
Mmm

9.09

The tea picking ladies are on the tracks
Nooo , don’t do it. The train is due
9.30, it’s coming
Everyone in…
Tea
Waterfalls
More tea
Houses close to the tracks
Conductor
Villages
More tea
Small stations
But look at the station master’s uniform
More villages
Waterways
Hidden villages
These are not hard working train men
We are here
Everyone out for Kandy the train continues to Colombo

Kandy is the second largest city in Sri Lanka. It seems busier than Colombo. People, cars, TukTuk’s and bikes all going everywhere. The traffic is horrendous.

Traffic!
Schools out

Schools here are segregated into boys and girls. They are all located in a certain area so when the school day ends , these areas are crowded with parents collecting the children. This was one girls school in a block of school. Uniforms are the same:- white dress, socks and shoes for the girls and white shirt, black shorts for boys. Schools are differentiating by their tie.

You get to sleep in tomorrow and have a quiet morning but be ready for a busy afternoon and evening.
