I am sure after yesterday’s exercise that you are hoping for a quieter day. You are in luck.
She used to carry sheep and cattle to and from the high country areas. Now she has been restored complete with a cafe/bar. Her walls have Art Deco posters or historical photos.
Can you see the stoker working hard keeping the engine going. It certainly gives off a lot of heat. Did you feel it? At one time there was no saloon. When it was added, the funnels were simple left exposed so you can feel the hot air rising through them.
We were too late to get seats on the 11.00 am sailing so opted for a drive and the 1.00pm trip. So a quick trip up to the ski resort on Coronet peak. As you would imagine , the views were breathtaking.
Back to Queenstown and for our trip on the TSS Earnshaw. The lake is used for all water sports. Don’t fall in though far from shore. The water is from a glacial melt and hypothermia will set in after 30mins.
From here we head to Wanaka. More views to admire
Mike has an aunt in Wanaka who turned 93 today! She is extremely active….puts all us >70< to shame.
You know how I like sculptures. Found these today…..one is an eagle and the others are of Kiwis (not the people or the fruit silly….the birds )
