Today you are crossing the Atlantic Ocean. You didn’t know you could do that on foot did you. Well here you are! Cross the bridge. You are crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Scotland to the Island of Seil.

Tight an Truish

The name of the Inn translates to the “House of the Trousers”.

Ellenabeich is the main village on the island. It is made up of rows of white houses and slate fences. The nearby Island of Easdale and Seil were both involved in slate mining. In fact so much slate was removed from the island that part of Easdale was inundated by the sea. Mining removed rock to a depth of 75metres below sea level.

Easdale is reached by a short(3minute) ferry ride. Locals and tourists travel by this route. On the island people move everything by cart. There is one tea shop/ bar , “The Puffer” ,and an active arts and craft community. Named for the little steam ships that used to come and collect the slate, The Puffer has excellent blackberry and lime scones. Taste the lime.I tested one for you and can vouch for them.

Back to Oban, lunch then the ferry to your next Island, Mull.

We are staying in Tobermory. This is a beautiful seaside village that is  painted in bright colours. It is picturesque and  featured in many movies and tv programmes. Our hotel is high on the hill and it is a renovated Victorian hotel. It is so grand inside, I had to close your mouth and pick you up off the floor when you saw the view, size of your room and bathroom. There is room for bed in the bathroom, along with a wardrobe, chest and chest of drawers.

Now they seem to have a few problems according to these signs.

No pies for me, I’m not risking it!

From the photos you can see Summer and sunshine are here for the day. Children were paddling and I saw my first sunset ( at 10.00pm). Early start tomorrow to beat  the weekend crowds. Off to bed with you.
