You may consider yourself lucky……the sun is sort of shining so that’s lucky. You are going on a bus, a ferry and a train so this may or may not be considered lucky if you were planning on lots of exercise.

Stromness first stop.

This is a very pretty town with lots of interesting nooks and we are only here for an hour before the ferry. Scoot and don’t forget you promised to visit the art gallery( considered world class).

Or look out through the window?

Out the window.

    Get ready!!!

On  the ferry and pass the Old Man of Hoy.

We are at Scarsdale. Off the ferry ,on the bus to Thurso station.   Not that one!

Now enjoy the scenery and watch out for quirky sights.

I am!

The sign behind the soldier reads as: Is your journey really necessary

Waiting at the hotel is a lovely cream tea. Will you need dinner after, do you think? I suggest  a  walk  to  wear  off  that  tea.

The hotel is a beautiful old hotel .look at the staircase.

Here is your quick visual tour.

There is a fault line that starts here.
The castle, now the children’s court.

More trains tomorrow as we head to Skye by the West Highlands Line. Another relaxing day? Maybe.
